Gay Men in Minnesota

My research topic is “Gay Men in Minnesota”. I am looking for both general and specific information about this population. Also, I am curious to know the stand of the state of Minnesota as regards theirs right and freedom of association.

To be able to do my research on this population successfully, I visited the SCSU Miller library basement to get some traditional print books related to my topic after searching the SCSU website under library. I narrowed my search to current books under dates. I selected a book on my topic from 1998 to 2012.

In addition to searching the Miller library for book related to my topic, I also used some search engine such as Goggle, Yahoo, and Mozilla Firefox to search for my topic. I also visited New York Times and CNN’s websites to search articles related to my topic.

Overall, my search experience was very successful because I was able to gather a lot of information needed for my research. For example, when I went into the SSCSU website under library, I input Gay men and limit my search to 1998 -2012. I got a multiple result of books I needed with the title of the book, the author’s name, the publisher and year of publication, the location of the book, and the call number.

Similarly, there were e-books in the OPAC related to my topic but I prefer the traditional print books.  Besides, I don’t have mobile device to download e-book. The print book is easy for me to carry and read without having to worry about internet or downloading problem.

As regard the website www. grrl.org, I was redirected to word press.com to create a blog. Overall, I think the miller library was more friendly and familiar to me.
